Still Life Study

For this digital painting, we focused on creating realistic hightlights and shadows using a challenging object. We drew a foam sphere. Another challenge was coverting a blue object into a grayscale painting. We sketched the ball on a layer first, then used a charcoal brush to shade on a different layer. The eraser was used for added highlights. I also created and used a tablecloth texture brush seen clearly in the ball's main shadow. I added this additional tetxure on a third layer. While the ball could have been darker and rounder, I think the texture in this painting appeared similar to the real still life scene.
